US Letter215.9 × 279.4 mm38 × 50 dots

The pattern is centered inside the margins. A4 and Letter use the same spacing; the number of dots changes with the page size. Dots are spaced center to center; there are no connecting lines.

What does 5mm dot spacing measure?

The distance from one dot center to the next is 5 mm, both horizontally and vertically. Ten gaps span 50 mm. Count the gaps rather than the dots: eleven consecutive dots mark ten intervals.

Plan a journal layout before drawing

Use the dots to align headings, divide a page into columns or sketch a weekly layout. A4 and Letter have different row counts, so choose the format you will actually print. These are full-size loose sheets; printing two pages on one sheet will shrink the dots’ spacing.

Dots or a connected grid?

Dots keep the page open for writing and sketches. For clearly bounded cells and coordinate plotting, use 5mm graph paper. The dot grid generator lets you change the color, spacing or margins when this preset is not quite right.

Print at the right size

  1. Download the version matching the paper in your printer.
  2. Open the PDF and select portrait, Actual size or 100%. Disable Fit, Shrink and multiple pages per sheet.
  3. Print one test sheet and measure ten dot intervals: they should span 50 mm.

Common questions

Why do the dots look faint on my printer?

Draft or economy mode can make small dots harder to see. Try normal print quality, or open the generator and choose a darker color or heavier dots. Test one sheet before printing a batch.

Can I add a title, name/date or footer?

Yes. Open this preset in the generator, then enable the optional fields. You can also adjust margins, color, orientation and spacing before exporting a new PDF.

Can I share these sheets with my class?

Yes. You may download, print and photocopy the sheets for personal, classroom and business use. Share this page so others can choose the right paper format.
